Description

Essential Job Responsibilities

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, monitoring, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures.
  • Direct and provide guidance to ensure all tasks, projects and deadlines are met.
  • Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow by issuing written and oral instructions to staff.
  • Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
  • Logging activities of staff when off-site (i.e. location, nature of work, start/stop time).

Operations

  • Manage the facilities maintenance activities across one or more facilities including but not limited to the following:
    • Oversees the physical maintenance and repair of equipment and systems at one or more sites.
    • Recommends measures to improve the performance, and quality of equipment.
    • Maintains waste manifest logs.
    • Oversees Pest Control activities related to food safety.
    • Maintains facilities compliance with environmental policies and procedures.
    • Implement programs and procedures required to ensure cleanliness the entire facility(s).
  • Interfaces with local government and utility companies to ensure IPC meets all local building ordinances including but not limited to the following:
    • Oversees resolution of all concerns regarding improvement plans to ensure plans are approved by the local municipalities prior to remodeling or upgrades take place.
    • Oversees the work performed by local utilities during upgrades and improvements to ensure all codes are met and work is done safely and efficiently.
  • Directs the maintenance staff in normal repair and maintenance duties including but not limited to:
    • Reporting on defective equipment and recommend replacement of obsolete equipment.
    • Maintaining a PM program for facilities equipment and infrastructure to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Ensures all administrative duties are completed as required to ensure proper reporting.
    • Directs maintenance technician staff in safe dismantling, assembling, and installing of industrial machinery.
    • Leads troubleshooting efforts for facilities machinery and equipment.
    • Reads and interpret specifications, blueprints, and work orders, and assign duties appropriately and/or selects outside contract support as needed.
    • Monitors the use and inventories of facilities spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary.
    • Leads the development and use of a computerized maintenance management system (NexGen), specifically for the tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of facilities equipment.
    • Confers with other managers and contractors to coordinate activities across individual departments.
  • Select and manage outside contracting services to ensure that work required is done in the safest and most efficient manner to meet the company deadlines.
  • Interprets company HR policies and enforces safety regulations to ensure the following:
    • Conducts annual reviews of all staff.
    • Determines staffing needs and hires facilities maintenance and custodial personnel as required.
    • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate employees to achieve work goals.
    • Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to Human Resources for action.
    • Ensures company's compliance with appropriate governmental regulatory requirements and promotes affirmative action compliance.
    • Ensures that Maintenance Technicians and Custodians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance and housekeeping programs can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
  • Manages facility security to ensure buildings, grounds, and people are protected against catastrophic loss through the following:
    • Maintains and upgrades as necessary the fire systems. This includes ensuring all smoke detectors are operating, all alarms are operating, all sprinkler systems are operating. This includes regular testing.
    • Maintains the building entrance/exit security systems. This includes ensuring all doors are properly secured and alarmed, and that the system is upgraded as the facility is expanded or the system becomes outdated.
    • Maintains outside security services. This includes interfacing with local authorities such as fire, police, government regulators, as well as 3rd party companies such as ADT.
    • Keeps plant management up to date on any issues or concerns that arise during normal operation of the facility.
    • Provide support for 24/7 manufacturing operations as required.
    • Additional duties as assigned.

Safety

  • Comply with the EHS Policy and applicable regulatory and company EHS rules and requirements.
  • Prompt reporting of any unsafe conditions, practices, or environmental concerns to supervision. Resolving potential hazards swiftly, thereby ensuring a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Attend scheduled EHS trainings.
  • Actively assist the organization in achieving or surpassing EHS goals. Identify areas for improvement in EHS practices and recommend enhancements to contribute to our commitment to a safe work environment.
  • Demonstrates safe work habits by adhering to general safety procedures, including correct techniques for lifting and bending, maintaining proper ergonomics, using equipment correctly, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Ensures that all fall protection procedures are strictly adhered to including but not limited to the use of harness, platform ladders, railing, lifts.
  • Ensures strict adherence to all safety procedures, including the enforcement and discipline related to Lockout/Tagout (LO/TO) procedures.

Product Safety and Quality

  • Follows Product Safety and Quality standards.
  • Follows GMP’s regarding food contact packaging as it pertains to the employee.
  • Follows IPC product defense standards and complies with all Safe Quality Food (SQF) requirements.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements (include education, experience, special skills, licenses and/or certifications required.)

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment serving in progressive technical roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, management, business, or a technical degree in a related field. Certified Facilities Manager (CFM) a plus.
  • Must have advanced mechanical and electrical systems knowledge and skills, including knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, and electrical power distribution systems and the applicable codes for these systems.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present information and respond to questions from all levels of employees including managers, engineers, technicians, and production employees, as well as vendors and contractors.
  • Must possess excellent equipment troubleshooting skills and problem solving abilities.
  • Must possess project management capabilities and experience managing capital projects. CAD experience a plus.
  • Must be proficient in project management tools such as Gantt charts and MS Project.
  • Ability to apply the basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
