Job summary

Cox Automotive is seeking a Manager, Maintenance to lead the maintenance and custodial function for auction facilities, offices, grounds, and equipment. You will supervise teams, inspect facilities, and manage budgets while coordinating with procurement and location leadership to ensure safe, efficient operations.

This on-site role requires a Bachelor’s degree with extensive related experience, plus strong leadership and compliance with maintenance codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 6 years’ experience in a related field or alternative combos (master’s degree with 4 years, Ph.D. with 1 year, or 10 years).
• 1+ year of experience in management or a lead role.
• Strong knowledge of facility and building maintenance codes and permitting requirements.
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and collaborative skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance and custodial personnel and identify current and future maintenance requirements.
• Inspect facilities, buildings and equipment to determine needs and staffing levels.
• Coordinate purchasing of building and maintenance supplies and equipment with Procurement/Posting.
• Direct installations and maintenance on utility systems (heat, power, gas, air).
• Compile labor and material costs and prepare reports for management.
• Work with location leadership to prepare annual maintenance budget.
• Prepare facilities for events, including setup and breakdown.
• Develop maintenance staff through recruitment, training, and education opportunities.
• Counsel and discipline employees; monitor performance and conduct appraisals.
• Model safety behaviors and support Safety Excellence initiatives.
• Monitor staffing levels and KPIs; implement improvement strategies.
• Lead the location team and uphold Cox/Manheim values; ensure respectful treatment of all staff.
• Enforce policies related to employee and customer conduct.
• Collaborate with market-level support teams (Finance, HR, MFS, Recon, Safety, Security, Sales) to optimize processes.
