Job summary

City of Freeport Texas is seeking a Building Maintenance Lead to oversee the City’s building maintenance program under the Public Works umbrella. The role plans, organizes, assigns, directs, and evaluates maintenance staff and activities across City properties and related structures.

The candidate will ensure life/safety standards, coordinate with the Public Works Director, and manage daily operations while maintaining records and delivering reliable service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Texas Driver's License or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire; must maintain acceptable driving record.
• Five years of progressive building/facilities maintenance experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in business management or construction management (or related field) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Run daily maintenance operations of City buildings and facilities.
• Inspect properties for life/safety issues and take corrective action.
• Identify maintenance needs, prioritize work, and implement solutions.
• Direct and evaluate building maintenance staff and activities.
• Provide emergency call-out readiness and high level customer service.
