Job summary

City of Freeport is seeking a Public Works Maintenance Tech I to support grounds, street, and facilities maintenance under the Public Works Director. You will perform skilled technical tasks and assist in daily department operations.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of maintenance experience, a Texas driver's license, and a commitment to safety. Shift is 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with potential for non-standard hours and emergency callouts.

Qualifications

• Requires Texas Driver's License or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Minimum 2 years maintenance experience in streets, drainage, parks/grounds, or building maintenance.
• High school diploma or GED preferred; heavy equipment/HVAC licenses a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provides labor in assigned areas of responsibility.
• Maintains daily operations of the Public Works Department.
• Performs maintenance and repairs using city equipment.
• Ensures safe working conditions for staff and public.
• Responds to emergencies during and after hours.
• Keeps daily work logs and reports.
