Job summary

YMCA of Greater Springfield, Inc. is seeking a Facilities Manager responsible for the maintenance, improvements, and cleanliness of YMCA facilities, including pools.

You will supervise maintenance and custodial staff, perform hands-on repairs, and coordinate with external contractors to ensure safe, compliant operations. Responsibilities include planning preventative maintenance, managing multiple projects, maintaining equipment inventories, and ensuring all mechanical systems run smoothly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of pools; preferred but we will train.
• Certified Pool Operator, or will take the exam to become certified.
• CPR/First Aid certifications.
• Previous supervisory experience.
• Ability to manage and lead through ambiguity across departments.
• Personal computer skills and standard business software required.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and supports the maintenance and custodial staff.
• Hands-on maintenance, cleaning and routine tasks.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Regular contact with members, participants and staff; prioritize customer service.
• Available on-call; weekends, nights, or early mornings for repairs.
• Plan and implement facility improvements, maintenance, and cleaning.
• Plan preventative maintenance schedules at all YMCA facilities.
• Oversee contractors; review bids; select contractors.
• Ensure operation of all mechanical systems including pools.
• Coordinate with fire, health, building dept. and others to meet regulations; maintain licenses/permits.
• Assist in recruiting, hiring, and training staff; develop schedules.
• Review and update facility procedures; communicate changes clearly to staff.
• Maintain inventory of maintenance equipment; update facility plans.
• Work with other departments to support our mission and foster engagement.
