Job summary

The A. Ray Olpin University Union of the University of Utah is seeking an entry-level Facilities/ Maintenance Assistant to support preventive maintenance and handle work orders in the Union building. You will set up and take down events and assist with setup needs as required.

This role emphasizes reliable customer service, the ability to lift heavy items, and a valid driver’s license, with on-the-job training provided. The position is based in Salt Lake City, UT.

Qualifications

• Entry-level position with on-the-job training.
• Six months experience equivalency may substitute for one year of related work experience.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and stooping, and to use a variety of equipment.
• Commitment to providing excellent customer service is required.
• A valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks to keep facilities, equipment, and work areas in good condition.
• Complete facility work orders, including basic repairs, cleaning, and maintenance activities.
• Prepare meeting spaces for daily events, including planning, setup, and takedown.
• Set up chairs, tables, and other equipment or supplies for events.
• Provide incidental services related to events, such as garbage removal or cleaning.
• May be responsible for unloading equipment or supplies.
• Other duties as assigned.
