Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking a Maintenance Crew Chief to supervise and perform journey-level trades in district facilities. Under general supervision, you will lead a crew, plan tasks, and ensure safety and quality.

Responsibilities include developing work schedules, monitoring completion, maintaining records of materials and costs, and coordinating with the Supervisor, Maintenance Operations. A high school diploma and at least five years in the trade are required; equivalent

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in the assigned trade required.
Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
Participate in the construction, installation, renovation, maintenance, and repair of district facilities.
Perform skilled journey level work for the assigned trade.
Lead and serve as the technical expert for an assigned crew.
Plan, prioritize, and assign work tasks to crew members.
Instruct crew members and monitor work quality, time schedules, and safety.
Identify areas needing repair or maintenance and take corrective action.
Maintain accurate records of material and costs.
Provide input on the selection of crew members.
Assist the supervisor with getting quotes for contract assignments when required.
Safely operate a district fleet vehicle to travel to assigned job sites.
Maintain the vehicle in clean, orderly condition and report needs.
Perform related work as assigned.
