Job summary

New Hanover County’s Facilities Management Department seeks a Trades Technician to perform repairs on County facilities, including painting, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, doors and locks, windows, and furnishing installation/removal. The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and at least 1 year of related maintenance experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 1 year of related maintenance experience.
• Ability to read architectural drawings.
• Experience with hydraulic sallyport doors and air pneumatic controls is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with construction and renovation of County buildings and facilities and identifying needed repairs.
• Performs repairs including painting, plumbing, roof/soffit, drywall, siding, doors/locks, windows, and furnishings.
• Maintains specialized facility hardware and tools; estimates materials for projects.
• Researches equipment needs and assists in obtaining quotes and managing contracted work.
• Performs other duties as assigned and on-call for emergencies.
