Job summary

Salt Lake County is hiring for a semi-skilled labor role focused on landscaping, maintenance, and repair of facilities and equipment. The position emphasizes working in a team to support the community and maintain safe, clean, functional County facilities.

The job requires at least one year of related experience, a Utah driver’s license (to operate County vehicles) and compliance with drug testing and background checks.

Qualifications

• One year of closely related experience in facilities, grounds, or construction maintenance.
• Valid Utah Driver's License required at hire; must obtain license to operate County vehicle within six months.
• Must pass a mandatory drug test before starting; random testing may occur.
• Background check through fingerprinting and RAP Back program.

Responsibilities

• Transports and operates light, medium, and heavy-duty equipment.
• Maintains facility grounds: mowing, planting, sprinkler systems, shrubs, and snow removal.
• Operates and maintains facility service vehicles and grounds equipment.
• Keeps records of work orders, maintenance, and safety checks.
• Supports loading/unloading and assists other trades on maintenance tasks.
• Picks up and distributes cleaning supplies; ensures safety around public areas.
• Changes exterior/parking lot lights and performs related upkeep.
