Job summary

The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is seeking a Facilities Generalist to join the facility operations team. The role focuses on building and exhibit maintenance, event support, and campus care, with opportunity to learn multiple trades and grow with responsibility.

You will perform inspections, assist with cleaning, repairs (painting, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry), and support grounds work and special events, including setup and takedown. Flexible schedule required.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience in industrial or large public facility housekeeping, grounds, or maintenance.
• Willingness to learn and grow in a multi-trade environment.
• Reliable and dependable; able to work holidays, nights, and weekends.
• Basic knowledge of computer systems and two-way radio operations.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance, cleaning, and care of building and campus.
• Assists with event set-up and take-down for museum events and rentals.
• Supports outdoor grounds maintenance including snow removal.
• Conducts daily inspections and reports concerns.
• Assists with repairs in painting, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and carpentry; may use lift.
• Maintains the historic carousel care.
• Operates power tools and landscaping equipment.
