Job summary

The Children's Museum of Indianapolis is seeking a Facilities Generalist (Project Management) to join the facility operations team. This role covers building and exhibit maintenance, event setup and takedown, and ongoing care of the building and grounds.

As a first-tier resource, you will work with cross-trained staff to ensure safe, timely operations, with opportunities to learn multiple trades and grow within the organization. Flexible scheduling may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years' experience in industrial or large public facility housekeeping, grounds, or maintenance.
• Willingness to learn and grow within a cross-trained facilities team.
• Proven reliability and dependability with flexibility for holidays, nights, and weekends.
• Basic knowledge of operating cleaning, landscaping, or maintenance tools preferred.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and use written records and radio systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, cleaning, and care of the building and campus.
• Assist with setup, transportation, and takedown of equipment for events and rentals.
• Gather and transport trash; assist with grounds maintenance and snow removal.
• Conduct daily inspections and report concerns in a timely manner.
• Support skilled trades in basic maintenance tasks (painting, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry).
• Help with regular care of the historic carousel; operate power tools and equipment as needed.
