Job summary

The Honolulu Museum of Art is seeking a General Maintenance Assistant to perform general maintenance and repairs across building systems, including carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing. The role supports event setup and museum programming, under supervision of the Facilities Manager and General Maintenance Supervisor.

Ideal candidates have 1 year of related experience or training, relevant certifications, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of combined experience and/or formal training in facilities maintenance, construction, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and/or plumbing systems.
  • Certification or professional training in related fields: HVAC, mechanical repair, heavy equipment, etc.
  • Museum facility experience.
  • Understanding of Honolulu Museum of Art’s vision, mission, and values and a dedication to advancing the organization in a sustainable way for future generations to enjoy.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repair tasks across building systems.
  • Assist with carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and other tasks as needed.
  • Support event setup and museum programming.
  • Respond promptly to emergency repairs and routine maintenance.
  • Ensure maintenance equipment is in good working order.
