Job summary

The Children’s Museum of Manhattan is seeking a Facilities Technician to support the Director of Building Operations in daily maintenance, repairs, and preventative tasks at our Upper West Side location. This role requires regular weekend hours and the ability to perform HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry tasks to maintain a safe, welcoming environment for visitors.

The position offers full-time hours with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Weekend and holiday availability required.
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • At least 3+ years in facilities maintenance.
  • Basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry understanding.
  • Experience with hand and electrical tools.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, operate, and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems.
  • Inspect facility grounds and report hazards to supervisor.
  • Paint, patch, and perform basic interior repairs.
  • Clear snow and spread snow-melting chemicals for both locations.
  • Open/close building and respond to maintenance requests as needed.
  • Serve as Fire Warden on weekends.
