Job summary

State of West Virginia seeks a versatile maintenance professional to lead the daily operations of our facility’s infrastructure. You will coordinate with the Building Grounds Manager to tackle work orders, oversee inmate crews, and drive projects to completion, including HVAC, boiler systems, kitchen equipment, water plant, and electrical motors maintenance.

You will also manage roofing, landscaping, water line repairs, and perimeter safety with an emphasis on budgetary efficiency.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a standard four-year high school or GED or four year apprenticeship program or two year post secondary technical school.
• Experience in air-conditioning, heating or refrigeration may be substituted for the required training on a year-for-year basis.
• Four years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in heating, cooling, ventilation or the mechanical or building trades such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, plasterer, painter, welder, machinist, mechanic or masonry work.
• Specific positions may require certification from a federal EPA approved testing organization as a certified technician required by the Clean Air Act on refrigerant recycling.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily facility operations and coordinate with the Building Grounds Manager to tackle work orders and drive projects to completion.
• Oversee inmate crews and repair HVAC and boiler systems, keep kitchen equipment, water plant, and electrical motors running.
• Manage roofing, landscaping, and water line repairs while monitoring budgetary efficiency.
• Ensure perimeter fencing, lighting, and generator readiness as part of safety.
• Be on the front lines for a mandatory weekly 12-hour security shift.
