Job summary

West Virginia University is seeking a Maintenance Worker II at Jackson's Mill in Weston, WV. The role involves performing maintenance, repairs, and alterations across campus facilities, grounds, and equipment, coordinating with the Operations Manager, and ensuring safety and efficiency in daily operations.

You will operate various machinery and vehicles, participate in snow removal, and assist with event setup and daily building checks.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; up to 18 months education beyond high school in related field (carpentry, equipment operation, building trades)
• Minimum of one year experience in general grounds maintenance and landscaping
• Equivalent combination of related education and/or experience considered
• All qualifications must be met by time of employment

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance, repairs, and alterations to buildings including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, drywall, and mechanical
• Operate and maintain lawn and landscape equipment such as mowers, tractors, trimmers, and chainsaws
• Coordinate work with Operations Manager to ensure timely repairs and efficient use of time and materials
• Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in good condition and report needed repairs promptly
• Ensure safety procedures and PPE are used during duties
• Conduct daily building checks and prep/clean meeting spaces
• Set up A/V and other equipment for groups as needed
• Maintain cleanliness of work area, grounds, and buildings
• Operate trucks, tractors, backhoes, skid steers, JLGs, forklifts, and aerial lifts
• Snow removal using shovels, snow blowers, trucks, and tractors
• Report identified maintenance/repair needs and life/safety issues promptly
• Operate a vehicle in performance of duties; keep it clean and perform basic maintenance
• Complete required reports timely and support WVU Jackson's Mill operations
