Job summary

Kennedy-King College, part of the City Colleges of Chicago (CCC), seeks an Engineer to support operation, maintenance, and improvement of campus facilities on Chicago's South Side. The role reports to the Chief Engineer and focuses on safe, efficient, reliable building systems and grounds.

Located within Kennedy-King College, this position carries a Thursday-Monday, 11pm–7am schedule. The Engineer ensures compliant operation and collaborates with campus stakeholders to sustain a high‑quality

Qualifications

Must possess a high school diploma or the equivalent.
Must possess a Stationary Engineers License recognized through the City Colleges of Chicago.
Current membership in Local # 399’s is preferred.
Knowledge of operation and repair of HVAC equipment, steam plants, motors, pumps, air compressors, refrigeration equipment, air‑conditioning units, fans and oiling pumps.
Experience in operation/maintenance of a pool is preferred.
Familiarity with rooftop HVAC units.
Knowledge of other trades.
Experience with Johnson Controls BAS system preferred.

Responsibilities

Ensures safe and efficient operation of equipment, machinery and buildings.
Operates and repairs heating and ventilation equipment, steam plants, motors, pumps, and related systems.
Adheres to standards of operation, regulations and best practices.
Maintains building equipment and machinery in excellent condition.
Adheres to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
