Job summary

RTX is seeking a Facilities Engineer Manager – Mechanical to lead mechanical building systems design, HVAC, engineering, and construction project management. The role reports to Sr.

Manager Project Execution and requires 8+ years in building mechanical engineering along with a BS in mechanical/industrial engineering or related field. The ideal candidate will manage design through bid, scheduling, cost estimates, and coordinate with IT, safety, security and contractors while travel is required

  • Coordinate mechanical designs with other building design disciplines such as architectural, electrical, structural, civil, IT, and security.
  • Preparation of diagrams, sketches, construction drawings, cost estimates, bid documents and construction administration.
  • Meeting with internal customers, developing continuous improvement projects, coordination studies and project management.
  • Interface and coordinate projects with internal and external resources such as information technology, safety, security, internal construction trade workers, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.

The following position is to join our RTX Enterprise Services team:

RTX has an opening for a Facilities Engineer Manager – Mechanical (Manager, Facilities) position in Andover MA.

The Facilities Engineer Manager - Mechanical will be responsible for supporting facilities mechanical design,HVAC, engineering, and construction project management. This position reports to Sr. Manager Project Execution.

What You Will Do:

  • Responsible for completing engineering projects including mechanical building systems troubleshooting, support of building control systems, office renovations, laboratory fit-ups and manufacturing equipment installations.
  • Support projects from design, through the bid cycle, construction project management followed by project closeout.
  • Project estimating, project scheduling, design of heating and cooling systems, calculation of heat loads, and equipment sizing studies.
  • Coordinate mechanical designs with other building design disciplines such as architectural, electrical, structural, civil, IT, and security.
  • Preparation of diagrams, sketches, construction drawings, cost estimates, bid documents and construction administration.
  • Meeting with internal customers, developing continuous improvement projects, coordination studies and project management.
  • Interface and coordinate projects with internal and external resources such as information technology, safety, security, internal construction trade workers, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Travel: The position will require travel within eastern Massachusetts, southern New Hampshire and Rhode Island with occasional opportunities to consult on projects outside of New England and potentially internationally.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Minimum of 8+ years of experience in building mechanical engineering and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or related discipline or equivalent combination of related work experience and schooling in lieu of degree.

8+ years demonstrated working knowledge of building mechanical systems such as; boilers, refrigeration, cooling skids, chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, fan coil units, variable air volume systems, compressed air systems, nitrogen and liquid nitrogen systems.

Experience with construction project management including customer scoping meetings, budget monitoring, establishing and updating schedules, contractor coordination, commissioning, and close-out.

Experience writing clear technical engineering specifications, reports and operating procedures

Qualifications We Prefer:

Working knowledge of American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers, Inc. (ASHRAE), Sheet Metal and Air conditioning Contractors National Association (SMCNA) and State Building Codes.

  • Solid computer skills including proficiency with AutoCad, REVIT, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Microsoft Project Scheduler.
  • Familiarity with building electrical systems and general understanding of building construction and civil works.
  • Experience in Building Automation Systems (BAS) and control systems such as Siemens, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric.

Ability to travel domestically and internationally

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
