Job summary

Muon Space in San Jose, CA is hiring a Facilities Engineer II to design, build, activate, and maintain next-generation spacecraft manufacturing facilities. You will lead cross-functional projects, coordinate contractors, and ensure compliance with building codes and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience with design or build of MEP and HVAC building systems.
  • Experience managing engineering, procurement, and construction for aerospace or large commercial projects.
  • Electrical/power distribution experience including delta/wye transformers and grounding.
  • Experience with UPS, backup generators, and ATS.
  • HVAC operation and design including HEPA, chillers, boilers.
  • Able to troubleshoot with technicians and maintain attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with NEC, ASHRAE, NFPA, IBC (nice-to-have).

Responsibilities

  • Lead internal facilities and infrastructure projects from EPC to maintenance.
  • Provide engineering support to ensure compliance with codes and specs.
  • Coordinate repair, build, and contingency systems across HVAC, security, fire protection.
  • Resolve design/build conflicts in the field with multiple parties.
  • Support capital expenditure processes and site project budgets.
  • Work with authorities to obtain permits and inspections.
  • Communicate schedules to teams and suppliers for on-time delivery.
  • Ensure reliability and maintainability of installations.
  • Respond to facility emergencies and define readiness procedures.
