Job summary

Muon Space, Inc. in San Jose, CA seeks an Engineering Manager to lead a team of electrical engineers, tailoring Muon's spacecraft platforms for specific missions.

You will stay technically engaged—review designs, debug hardware, and unblock the team—while focusing on leadership and customer-facing work. The role reports to the Senior Director of Spacecraft Structures & Missions and requires three days on-site per week.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing, integrating, or testing complex electrical systems for spaceflight, harsh environments, or similar.
• 2+ years leading or managing engineering teams.
• Ability to read, understand, and debug electrical designs.
• Strong understanding of avionics, power distribution, harnessing, and hardware/software integration.
• Experience with electrical harness design, documentation, and integration.
• Proficient with schematic capture and PCB design tools; familiar lab equipment.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills; hands-on engineering mindset.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical or Computer Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of electrical engineers customizing Muon's spacecraft platforms.
• Plan resourcing across concurrent missions and hire as the team scales.
• Own electrical deliverables from requirements through design adaptation, build, integration, and test.
• Define harness definition, routing, documentation, and payload electrical interfaces.
• Translate customer needs into electrical solutions, reusing platform hardware when possible.
• Review schematics, support bring-up, and debug hardware issues to root cause.
• Set and uphold engineering standards for documentation, ECO/DCO, and test procedures.
• Collaborate with mechanical, software, systems, and production teams for integration and manufacturability.
