Job summary

Connecticut OnLine Computer Center COCC is seeking a Corporate Facilities Engineering Specialist to support day-to-day maintenance and operations of COCC's buildings and grounds. This hands-on role works with modern facilities tools, shipping systems, and maintenance equipment to ensure a safe, functional, and professional environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two or more years in facilities, maintenance, landscaping, construction, or shipping and receiving.
• Hands-on experience with building maintenance, basic plumbing, electrical work, and general repairs.
• Ability to read basic floor plans or blueprints.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Comfort working on site full time with on-call or off hours support as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, use pallet jacks, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform proactive and reactive maintenance of interior and exterior building spaces.
• Develop and manage a preventative maintenance routine for daily and weekly tasks.
• Complete light maintenance including painting, patching, minor plumbing repairs, and changing light fixtures.
• Coordinate and oversee vendors for building repairs, maintenance, and outsourced projects.
• Respond to employee requests for facilities support and assistance.
• Maintain grounds including mowing, trimming, and snow removal during winter months.
• Monitor and adjust HVAC systems and schedule required inspections and servicing.
• Receive, log, and distribute shipments at the loading dock using appropriate equipment.
• Sort, prepare, and ship daily mail and UPS packages using WorldShip and CampusShip software.
• Maintain mailroom, loading dock, and storage organization.
• Perform courier duties using a company vehicle for local and occasional out of state deliveries.
• Complete daily, weekly, and monthly facilities checklists.
• Safely handle and transport sealed confidential materials as required.
