Job summary

CBRE HV in New York seeks a Building Engineer to monitor, maintain, and repair building systems including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and life safety. You will support preventive maintenance and energy management while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

You will collaborate with teams to optimize operations, implement corrective actions, and uphold CBRE RISE values, delivering reliable service to the facility and its occupants.

Qualifications

• Requires diploma or equivalent with 4–5 years related experience; universal CFC preferred.
• Must meet physical requirements including lifting 50 lbs or more.
• Ability to exercise judgment based on multiple information sources.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong organizational and mathematical abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs on mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems.
• Ensure facilities meet applicable codes, regulations, and safety directives.
• Maintain an energy management program for efficient operation of systems.
• Assist preventive maintenance to extend equipment life; perform emergency repairs as needed.
• Safely store, use, and dispose of hazardous materials; keep a clean workplace.
• Review building inspections (fire alarms, HVAC, plumbing) for design and environmental conditions.
• Apply standard principles to complex tasks and provide innovative solutions.
• Coach others and share knowledge across disciplines within the function.
• Lead by example and promote CBRE RISE values; build consensus where needed.
• Impact a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities within teams.
• Work within broad guidelines and policies.
