Job summary

Battleship North Carolina Memorial, a division of the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, seeks a Maintenance/Construction Supervisor I to lead the maintenance team and oversee budgets and schedules for large historic facilities.

Responsibilities include managing HVAC, electrical, plumbing and IT systems, supervising staff and volunteers, ensuring OSHA/EPA compliance, safety programs, and coordinating capital projects and long-term maintenance plans.

Qualifications

• Experience overseeing maintenance or facilities operations for large facilities, preferably historic.
• Experience with maintenance budgets, capital projects and long-term plans.
• Broad technical knowledge across multiple trades and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance and renovation projects for a large historic facility.
• Direct Maintenance Department staff, volunteers and external groups.
• Develop departmental budget and work schedules; allocate resources.
• Maintain electrical and emergency systems; liaison for the Battleship.
• Serve as Memorial Safety Officer; oversee safety investigations and SDS compliance.
• Supervise Night Watch and ensure security outside operating hours.
• Engage with visitors and assist during events and emergencies.
