Job summary

North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) seeks a Maintenance/Construction Supervisor I to inspect park facilities, manage maintenance and safety, and oversee renovations and repairs. Responsibilities include cost estimation, bid package development, and supervision of staff and contractors.

The role involves reading blueprints, coordinating with officials, and providing hands-on supervision of facility operations across state parks in North Carolina.

Qualifications

• High school or GED and three years of progressive facility maintenance or construction experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may qualify.
• Experience in three building trades: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, or auto mechanics.
• Ability to read blueprints/structural specifications and estimate material.
• EPA Type I/II/III or Universal technician certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements outside bid packages and monitors contractor work.
• Acts as liaison to local officials and regulatory agencies.
• Supervises personnel on special projects.
• Provides record-keeping support and prepares basic forms.
• Hands-on technical supervisor for maintenance and repairs of facilities and equipment.
• Maintains stock control for tools, parts, and supplies.
• Advise management on equipment and facilities maintenance or replacement.
