Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, Division of Parks and Recreation, is seeking a Maintenance/Construction Supervisor I (S) to oversee park facilities and lead maintenance projects. The role involves inspecting facilities for safety, supervising housekeeping, grounds, and vehicle upkeep, and participating in master planning and cost estimation.

Qualifications

• Trades experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical and/or auto mechanics.
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for repair, maintenance, and construction.
• Ability to read blueprints and structural specifications and estimate materials.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements outside bid packages, reviews plan sheets from designers/contractors, and monitors contractor work.
• Liaises with local officials and regulatory agencies for facility/agency management.
• Supervises and evaluates work of employees/volunteers on projects.
• Provides record-keeping support and prepares basic operational forms.
• Hands-on technical supervisor for routine construction, maintenance, and repairs of facilities and vehicles.
• Maintains stock control for tools, parts, and supplies.
• Advises management on technical aspects of equipment and facilities.
