Job summary

Kaufman Music Center in New York, NY seeks a Facilities Director to lead the maintenance and facilities team. The role oversees daily operations, capital projects, and budget management to support the Center’s programs and audiences.

You will report to the COO, supervise four full-time and one part-time staff, ensure safety and compliance, and collaborate with vendors and city agencies to maintain a welcoming learning and performance environment.

Qualifications

• At least five years of facilities experience.
• Experience with project management, future planning for facility usage and construction.
• Hands-on knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC) and ability to troubleshoot repairs in-house.
• Ability to read blueprints, designs and drawings.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; able to manage a team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily building operations and maintenance activities.
• Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs and budgets.
• Lead capital projects and coordinate with the COO on planning and reporting.
• Recruit, hire, and supervise maintenance staff; manage payroll and scheduling.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws, codes, permits and safety requirements.
