Job summary

The Philadelphia Orchestra and Ensemble Arts seeks a Director of Facilities to oversee maintenance, operations, and management of its three performing arts centers. You will lead staff, manage external contractors, and drive preventative maintenance across front- and back-of-house spaces.

Responsibilities include budgeting, contract negotiations, and coordinating with departments to support performances, rehearsals, and events while ensuring safety and compliance with codes and standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred; extensive relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 5–10+ years facilities management experience
  • 3–4 years leadership or supervisory experience required
  • Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.)
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Experience with facilities maintenance software and budget tools
  • CFM or FMP certifications are highly valued

Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance and operations for buildings, grounds, and venue infrastructure.
  • Manage budgets and procurement in line with goals.
  • Supervise staff and external contractors, including union coordination as needed.
  • Coordinate with departments for technical and operational event needs.
  • Ensure safety, compliance with codes, and emergency readiness.
