Job summary

Dallas City Hall is hiring a Custodian for multiple locations in the Parks and Recreation Department. The role performs routine cleaning, maintains facilities, and supports meeting room setups. A minimum of six months custodial experience and eligibility for CJIS certification are required.

Shifts vary and may include nights, weekends, and holidays. Starting salary is $44,720 per year, with benefits and growth opportunities within City services.

Qualifications

• General mechanical knowledge and aptitude for routine cleaning tasks.
• Ability to learn to use hand/power cleaning tools and equipment.
• Able to perform manual labor and physical tasks.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with coworkers and customers.

Responsibilities

• Operates custodial equipment (sweepers, buffers, mops) to clean floors and facilities.
• Collects trash and maintains clean rest rooms, walkways, and grounds.
• Restocks paper supplies and monitors inventory; communicates needs.
• Checks equipment daily and reports issues; ensures spaces are safe and operable.
• Sets up meeting rooms and arranges equipment as requested by the customer.
• Inspects areas for hazards and spills to maintain safety and cleanliness.
• Washes and maintains City vehicles; may drive vehicles for deliveries.
• Performs other trades work as assigned.
