Job summary

City of Garland is looking for a custodial worker to keep city offices, buildings, and grounds clean and orderly. The role involves indoor and outdoor cleaning tasks with a pay range of $16.41-$18.14 per hour.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and no prior experience required; a GED or equivalent combination is acceptable. The position may involve physical labor and driving a City vehicle.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of maintenance upkeep.
• Skill in operating cleaning maintenance equipment.
• Ability to work to make independent decisions.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with City personnel.

Responsibilities

• Maintain City facilities’ flooring by sweeping, mopping, shampooing and scrubbing.
• Clean woodwork, furniture, desk, chairs, filing cabinets and telephones.
• Complete detailed vacuuming of carpets and other applicable surfaces.
• Maintain sanitary condition of facilities by cleaning sinks, mirrors, countertops, toilets and drinking fountains.
• Complete special projects as assigned.
