Job summary

Alsco Uniforms in Houston, TX is seeking a Custodian (Janitor) to maintain cleanliness of equipment, facilities and grounds. The role is non-exempt and requires performing various cleaning tasks to support operations.

You will scrub, vacuum, mop, and handle light maintenance, move materials, assist with events, and follow safety procedures. Experience not required, but reliability and ability to work with a team are valued.

Qualifications

• Recognize colors and sizes, count and sort accurately.
• Certified to operate a powered industrial truck where required.
• Knowledge of cleaning products and procedures, or willingness to learn.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work well with a team.
• Ability to work independently and follow written or verbal directions.

Responsibilities

• Perform heavy cleaning tasks on equipment using compressed air and other methods.
• Scrub, sanitize, vacuum, sweep and mop.
• Dispose of trash, clean spills, replace air fresheners, change light bulbs, lock doors, paint, maintain water coolers, prepare facilities for events.
• Clean offices, bathrooms, break rooms and other areas.
• Move furniture and equipment between departments or into storage, assist other departments with tasks.
• Operate a powered industrial truck to move, transfer, load and unload.
• Maintain safety and record-keeping, restock supplies as needed.
• Follow supervision instructions and keep areas neat and clean.
