Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a Facilities apprentice to participate in the state-accredited Facilities Apprenticeship Program within our hospital settings in New Orleans. You will learn through hands-on maintenance, inspections, and repairs of electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, while meeting milestones and competencies.

The role serves as a bridge training toward a general mechanic position, requiring a high school diploma or equivalent and strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills; strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work with others, take direction, and manage time effectively.
• Analytical thinking to assess situations and determine action.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the Facilities Apprenticeship Program.
• Performs inspections, troubleshooting and repairs of minor electrical, mechanical, and plumbing items.
• Completes preventive maintenance per schedule and keeps records.
• Reports on time to designated sites and attends classes, labs, and study periods.
• Complies with policies and performs other duties as assigned.
