What s it like working for an innovative company that takes on some of the world s most important challenges? Rewarding. At BAE Systems we protect those who protect us. Our Jacksonville Ship Repair facility has multiple opportunities for fabrication welders with variable levels of experience.

Responsibilities
  1. The primary tasks include the welding of newly fabricated structural members and plating.
  2. Other tasks include the welding of outfitting items such as electrical cableways, brackets, watertight hatches/doors and many other components in accordance with Module fabrication.
  3. All tasks require strict adherence to the company s safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
  4. A structural welder should be able to read and utilize welding procedures and welding symbols.
  5. A structural welder should be able to safely and efficiently use an oxy-fuel torch to apply pre-heat to materials prior to welding.
  6. A structural welder should be able to safely and efficiently use air carbon arc gouging equipment to gouge welds.
  7. A structural welder should be able to safely and efficiently use electric and pneumatic grinders to prepare materials for welding, as well as to clean and contour finished welds.
  8. A structural welder should be able to use measuring tools and gauges to verify dimensions of weld joints in accordance with approved joint designs.
  9. A structural welder should be able to use weld gauges to verify weld size and quality in accordance with specifications.
  10. A structural welder should be able to utilize ceramic backing in the flat, horizontal, and vertical positions with the semi-automatic welding processes.
  11. A structural welder should be able to pass groove-weld qualification tests in all positions for multiple materials and processes, such as Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) of high strength steel and stainless steel, as well as Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW-Pulse) of aluminum and steel.
  12. Must be able to obtain DBIDS Access Card.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  1. Demonstrate the ability to pass the following including FCAW with ceramic tape, single Vee and open butt in 2G and 3G positions.
  2. Demonstrate ability to perform GMAW pulse and spray arc in all positions.
  3. 3 to 5 years' experience in shop fabrication preferred.
  4. Must be able to obtain and maintain Defense Biometric Identification Systems "DBIDS" access badge.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  1. Must have a basic understanding of the Military standard 1688 and 1689 for surface and submarine fabrication.
  2. High School Diploma Graduate or GED Equivalency Certificate/Diploma.
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $35048 - $62400. Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
