Join an innovative company that tackles some of the world's most important challenges. At BAE Systems, we protect those who protect us. Our Jacksonville Ship Repair facility offers multiple opportunities for fabrication welders with varying levels of experience.

Responsibilities:
  1. Weld newly fabricated structural members and plating.
  2. Perform welding of outfitting items such as electrical cableways, brackets, watertight hatches/doors, and other components following module fabrication standards.
  3. Adhere strictly to company safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
  4. Read and utilize welding procedures and symbols effectively.
  5. Use oxy-fuel torches to apply pre-heat to materials safely and efficiently.
  6. Operate air carbon arc gouging equipment for weld removal.
  7. Prepare materials for welding and finish welds using electric and pneumatic grinders.
  8. Verify dimensions of weld joints with measuring tools and gauges.
  9. Use weld gauges to ensure weld size and quality meet specifications.
  10. Utilize ceramic backing in various positions with semi-automatic welding processes.
  11. Pass groove-weld qualification tests in multiple positions and materials, including FCAW, SMAW, and GMAW-Pulse.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Upcoming or recent graduate of the Universal Technical Institute Welder program in Houston, TX.
  • Ability to pass FCAW with ceramic tape, single Vee, and open butt in 2G and 3G positions.
  • Obtain and maintain a DBIDS access badge.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Basic understanding of Military standards 1688 and 1689 related to surface and submarine fabrication.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
Additional Information:

Salary range: $35,048 - $62,400, determined by various factors including skills, education, and experience.
