What's it like working for an innovative company that takes on some of the world's most important challenges? Rewarding. At BAE Systems, we protect those who protect us. Our Jacksonville Ship Repair facility has multiple opportunities for fabrication welders with varying levels of experience.

The primary tasks include:

  1. Welding of newly fabricated structural members and plating.
  2. Welding of outfitting items such as electrical cableways, brackets, watertight hatches/doors, and other components in accordance with module fabrication standards.
  3. Strict adherence to safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
  4. Reading and utilizing welding procedures and symbols.
  5. Using oxy-fuel torches for pre-heating materials prior to welding.
  6. Using air carbon arc gouging equipment to gouge welds.
  7. Preparing materials for welding and finishing welds using electric and pneumatic grinders.
  8. Verifying dimensions of weld joints with measuring tools and gauges.
  9. Verifying weld size and quality with weld gauges.
  10. Utilizing ceramic backing with semi-automatic welding processes in various positions.
  11. Passing groove-weld qualification tests in multiple positions for various materials and processes, including FCAW, SMAW, and GMAW-Pulse of high-strength steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and steel.
  12. Obtaining a DBIDS Access Card.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Upcoming or recent graduate of the Universal Technical Institute Welder program in Houston, TX.
  • Ability to pass FCAW with ceramic tape, single Vee, and open butt in 2G and 3G positions.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Defense Biometric Identification Systems (DBIDS) badge.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Basic understanding of Military standards 1688 and 1689 for surface and submarine fabrication.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Pay Range

Full-Time Salary: $35,048 - $62,400

Note: Salaries are influenced by market pay structures, individual qualifications, skills, education, experience, and other factors.
