Join an innovative company that tackles some of the world's most significant challenges. At BAE Systems, we protect those who protect us. Our Jacksonville Ship Repair facility offers multiple opportunities for fabrication welders with varying experience levels.

  • The primary responsibilities include welding newly fabricated structural components and plating.
  • Additional tasks involve welding outfitting items such as electrical cableways, brackets, watertight hatches/doors, and other components following module fabrication standards.
  • All tasks require strict adherence to safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Welders should be able to read and utilize welding procedures and symbols.
  • Proficiency in using oxy-fuel torches for pre-heating materials is required.
  • Ability to use air carbon arc gouging equipment to gouge welds safely and efficiently.
  • Skills in using electric and pneumatic grinders to prepare materials and finish welds are necessary.
  • Ability to use measuring tools and gauges to verify weld joint dimensions.
  • Use of weld gauges to verify weld size and quality in accordance with specifications.
  • Utilize ceramic backing in various positions with semi-automatic welding processes.
  • Pass groove-weld qualification tests in all positions for multiple materials and processes, including FCAW, SMAW, and GMAW-Pulse.
  • Must be able to obtain a DBIDS Access Card.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Ability to pass welding tests including FCAW with ceramic tape, single Vee, and open butt in 2G and 3G positions.
  • Ability to perform GMAW pulse and spray arc welding in all positions.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in shop fabrication preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DBIDS badge.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Basic understanding of Military standards 1688 and 1689 for surface and submarine fabrication.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Pay Range

Full-Time Salary: $44,720 - $78,520

Note: Salaries are influenced by various factors including skills, education, experience, market conditions, and internal considerations.
