Job summary

Permobil is seeking a Fabrication Technician in New Berlin, WI to perform assembly of seating and positioning equipment using powered tools and adhesives. You will follow work orders, read BOMs and drawings, and ensure quality parts are produced on schedule.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, manufacturing experience, ability to read a tape measure, basic math, and strong communication in English. Full-time, 1st shift in New Berlin with overtime opportunities.

• Operate band saw, grinder, t-nut machine, drill press, and glue gun.
• Maintain Kanban system and stock levels; report stock outs.

• Pay Range: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
• Shift: 1st Shift
• Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 6:00am-2:00pm (Must have the ability to work overtime hours.)

Your Role in Our Mission

• Perform a variety of assembly operations to produce and assemble seating and positioning equipment according to specifications and quality standards using powered equipment and adhesives.
• Read and follow work order specifications via Electronic Distribution of Orders (EDO) & order hard copies to build and assemble quality parts in an accurate and timely fashion.
• Work from bill of materials, drawings and specifications.
• Use a variety of measuring instruments.
• Operate band saw, grinder, t-nut machine, drill press, portable power tools and glue gun.
• Locate materials required to assemble products.
• Enter completed product into production entry.
• Monitor stock quantities, scrap, report stock outs via EDO and turn in Kanban cards to purchasing group.
• Confer and correspond with purchasing group to rectify problems, such as damages, and shortages.
• Assist other areas of Fabrication to ensure products are completed on time, such as cutting down foams, adding gel packs, etc.
• Process material substitution or inventory adjustments with purchasing group.
• Follow and comply with all safety, work rules, regulations, ISO procedures, lean initiatives and lean events.
• Maintain departmental housekeeping standards. Maintain 5’S Program.
• Assist and Cross train in other departments, as needed, to ensure products are completed on time.
• Maintain Kanban System and participate in cycle counts
• Recognize and communicate defective parts.
• Maintains Quality Service by: Meeting/Exceeding all measurements of performance: quality, accuracy, timeliness, and thoroughness of work performed.
• Contributes to team effort by: Maintaining a good attendance record; accomplishing related results as needed; having on call list responsibility.
• Highlight cross-functional collaboration and ownership.
• Emphasize continuous improvement and efficiency.

What You’ll Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior manufacturing experience.
• Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide and metric conversions).
• Ability to read a tape measure.
• Ability to read, write, and understand instruction detail written and communicated in English.
• Familiar with portable power tools such as a drill, band saw, and grinder.
• Good oral and written communication skills in order to interact with employees and supervisor.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before employees of the organization.
• Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draws valid conclusions.
• Basic computer knowledge and ability to navigate the internet to access company portals preferred.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
• Strong problem-solving mindset.

Pay Transparency

The expected pay range for this role is $20.00 - $22.00 per hour . Final compensation will depend on factors such as experience, skills, and internal equity.
