Job summary

Permobil, Inc. is hiring a Fabrication Technician for the New Berlin, WI facility. The role focuses on assembling seating and positioning equipment using powered tools and adhesives, following exact specifications and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic math and measurement skills required.
  • Ability to read and understand English instructions and safety rules.
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assembly operations to produce seating and positioning equipment per specs and quality standards.
  • Read work orders and follow EDOs to build parts accurately and on time.
  • Work from BOMs, drawings, and specifications.
  • Use measuring tools and various power tools safely and effectively.
  • Maintain Kanban and report stock levels and shortages to purchasing.

  • Pay Range: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
  • Shift: 1st Shift
  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 6:00am-2:00pm (Must have the ability to work overtime hours.)

Your Role in Our Mission
  • Perform a variety of assembly operations to produce and assemble seating and positioning equipment according to specifications and quality standards using powered equipment and adhesives.
  • Read and follow work order specifications via Electronic Distribution of Orders (EDO) & order hard copies to build and assemble quality parts in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Work from bill of materials, drawings and specifications.
  • Use a variety of measuring instruments.
  • Operate band saw, grinder, t-nut machine, drill press, portable power tools and glue gun.
  • Locate materials required to assemble products.
  • Enter completed product into production entry.
  • Monitor stock quantities, scrap, report stock outs via EDO and turn in Kanban cards to purchasing group.
  • Confer and correspond with purchasing group to rectify problems, such as damages, and shortages.
  • Assist other areas of Fabrication to ensure products are completed on time, such as cutting down foams, adding gel packs, etc.
  • Process material substitution or inventory adjustments with purchasing group.
  • Follow and comply with all safety, work rules, regulations, ISO procedures, lean initiatives and lean events.
  • Maintain departmental housekeeping standards. Maintain 5'S Program.
  • Assist and Cross train in other departments, as needed, to ensure products are completed on time.
  • Maintain Kanban System and participate in cycle counts
  • Recognize and communicate defective parts.
  • Maintains Quality Service by: Meeting/Exceeding all measurements of performance: quality, accuracy, timeliness, and thoroughness of work performed.
  • Contributes to team effort by: Maintaining a good attendance record; accomplishing related results as needed; having on call list responsibility.
  • Highlight cross-functional collaboration and ownership.
  • Emphasize continuous improvement and efficiency.
What You'll Bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior manufacturing experience.
  • Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide and metric conversions).
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand instruction detail written and communicated in English.
  • Familiar with portable power tools such as a drill, band saw, and grinder.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in order to interact with employees and supervisor.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before employees of the organization.
  • Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draws valid conclusions.
  • Basic computer knowledge and ability to navigate the internet to access company portals preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset.
Pay Transparency

The expected pay range for this role is $20.00 - $22.00 per hour. Final compensation will depend on factors such as experience, skills, and internal equity.
