Job summary

Sam's Club in Springfield, IL is seeking an Optical Associate to stock and present eyewear, assist members with purchasing decisions, measure pupillary distance, and perform frame adjustments and repairs. You will handle orders, verify prescriptions, and coordinate with labs and doctors as needed.

Responsibilities include processing payments and insurance when applicable, maintaining HIPAA-compliant records, and ensuring accuracy of patient and product data while delivering friendly member

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent upon job entry or within 12 months of hire in order to sit for ABO exam.
• Must obtain American Board of Opticianry (ABO) certification within 15 months of hire or job entry.
• Licensure requirements vary by state for apprentice/optician pathways and must be addressed per state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Stock and present Optical merchandise and maintain displays following company procedures.
• Assist members with eyewear purchases, measure pupillary distance, and perform frame adjustments and repairs.
• Process eyewear and contact lens orders and verify prescription information; collaborate with labs and optometrists.
• Handle payments, returns, and exchanges using POS and comply with HIPAA and insurance processes.
• Maintain calibration and cleanliness of Optical equipment and ensure proper documentation and records.
