Job summary

Warby Parker is seeking an Optometric Technician to support eye exams in-store, performing pre-testing and data collection while maintaining patient flow and high service standards.

You will train teammates on contact lens insertion/removal, assist doctors during exams, and ensure HIPAA compliance. The role emphasizes teamwork, organization, and comfort with new medical tech in a fast-paced retail setting.

Qualifications

• CPOT certification or Optometric Technician training program is preferred.
• Experience supporting doctors in medical environments is a plus.
• Familiarity with healthcare technology systems and eye care equipment is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary liaison between doctor and patient, establishing rapport with eye exam patients.
• Perform preliminary clinical data collection (autorefraction, visual acuity, eye pressure, pupil testing, ocular motility, retinal imaging, lensometry).
• Support in-person and video-assisted eye exam appointments as available.
• Train team members on insertion and removal training for contact lenses and share this knowledge with the Store Leader’s direction.
• Assist with appointment booking, confirmations, and follow-ups to ensure a seamless patient experience.
• Manage patient flow through the eye exam process and maintain accurate data records.
• Prepare reports for other medical professionals as needed.
• Ensure HIPAA/PIPEDA compliance and company privacy policies.
• Maintain an organized exam room, replenish supplies, and keep equipment clean and calibrated.
• Support the retail sales team as directed by the Store Leader.
