Job summary

VSP Vision in Riverside, CA is seeking support staff to assist the optometrist during eye exams and patient care. You will conduct pre-testing, gather patient history, and guide patients through the clinical experience.

Responsibilities include preparing patients, taking measurements, administering tests, and managing contact lens orders and inventory, all while documenting accurately and supporting team communications.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of related field experience.
• Working knowledge of MS Office.
• Effective verbal communication to prioritize tasks and handle inquiries.
• Effective written communication to document patient visits.
• Excellent interpersonal and rapport-building skills.
• Ability to listen, ask relevant questions, and assist in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Optometrist with eye examinations and patient care.
• Prepare patients by gathering vision and medical history and documenting in the record.
• Take measurements and conduct tests to assess visual capabilities.
• Educate patients on contact lens insertion/removal and manage trials inventory.
• Administer topical ophthalmic and dilation medications.
• Scribe for the doctor and translate as needed.
• Support patient flow and coordination with staff and doctors.
