Qualifications

• Experience assisting optometrists or in a clinical eye-care setting.
• Strong communication to document patient information clearly.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize patient flow.
• Familiarity with patient history intake and HIPAA practices.
• Proficiency with basic office software and scheduling systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Optometrist during eye examinations and pre-testing.
• Gather patient history information and document findings.
• Explain exam steps and guide patients through the visit.
• Assist with contact lens insertion and removal training.
• Order contact lenses and manage trials inventory.
• Administer topical ophthalmic and dilation medications as directed.
• Provide scribe support and translate as needed.
• Support front desk tasks: phones, insurance verification, charting.
