Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• 2+ years' experience in optometry, ophthalmology or healthcare setting.

• Understanding and utilization of optical equipment and diagnostic testing (pre-exam testing, pretesting, visual acuity, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient care and eye exams, including managing patient records and supporting patient flow throughout the exam.
• Performs tests to aid the optometrist with vision examinations including visual acuity, depth and color perception, and retinal imaging.
• Reviews prescriptions and patient information with attention to detail; consults with Optometrist or Practice Manager when necessary.
• Handles and files patient records in HIPAA-compliant manner.
• Supports contact lens exams and orders, including contact lens care and patient orders.
• Operates the point-of-sale system and processes sales transactions when required.
• Maintains a safe working environment and supports visual merchandising in exam lanes and contact lens area.
• Performs pre-examination testing with accuracy and explains measurements to patients.
• Provides maintenance and disinfection of equipment; offers clinical support to the Optometrist.
