Job summary

VSP Vision in Modesto, CA is seeking a patient-focused assistant to support the optometrist during eye examinations. You will gather patient history, perform pre-testing, document findings, and guide patients through the clinical experience.

This role requires 1–2 years in a related field, MS Office skills, strong communication, and the ability to work with clinical instruments. Training is provided, and you will join a team dedicated to high-quality eye care.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in a related field.
• Proficient in MS Office and documentation.
• Strong verbal communication to coordinate with patients and staff.
• Strong written communication for patient records.
• Excellent interpersonal and rapport-building skills.
• Ability to ask pertinent questions to identify patient needs.
• Active listening to manage patient flow in a busy clinic.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Optometrist with eye examinations and patient care.
• Greet patients, collect history, and document information in records.
• Operate clinical instruments and perform pre-testing.
• Instruct on contact lens insertion/removal when applicable.
• Scribe for the doctor and translate as needed.
• Support patient flow and communication with doctors and staff.
• Perform therapy exercises or procedures under supervision.
