Job summary

VSP Vision is seeking an Eyezone-West Reno location assistant to support the optometrist during eye examinations, perform pre-testing and collect patient history, guiding patients through the clinical experience.

Responsibilities include preparing patients, operating instruments, assisting with contact lens insertion, inventory management, administering medications, and ensuring smooth patient flow with staff.

Qualifications

• One to two years of experience in related field.
• Working knowledge of MS Office package.
• Effective verbal communication skills to prioritize multiple tasks and to be available for incoming calls and inquiries.
• Effective written communication skills to clearly document patient visits.
• Excellent interpersonal and rapport-building skills.
• Ability to ask appropriate and relevant questions to identify patient needs.
• Ability to listen, process transactions and interact with patients simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients by gathering vision/history data and documenting in records.
• Operate clinical instruments and take measurements for exams.
• Perform contact lens insertion and training.
• Order contact lenses and manage trials inventory.
• Administer topical ophthalmic and dilation meds.
• Scribe for the doctor and translate as needed.
• Manage patient flow and coordinate with staff.
• Assist in other office areas as needed.
