Job summary

Physicians Eyecare Group is seeking a compassionate Certified Nurse Practitioner to join our eyecare center in Farmington, NM. The role combines comprehensive eye care with integrative optometric services and close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate holds an active NM NP license, DEA registration, and 2+ years of NP experience, preferably in ophthalmology or integrative medicine. This on-site, part-time position offers flexible scheduling and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Active unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license issued by the New Mexico Board of Nursing.
• Current DEA registration or eligibility to obtain one in New Mexico.
• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited program.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical NP experience; ophthalmology or integrative medicine preferred.
• Strong proficiency with EHR/EMR systems and clinical documentation.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and patient education skills.
• Familiarity with ophthalmic equipment such as slit lamp, tonometer, OCT, and auto refractor.
• Experience in a retail optical/ophthalmology clinic setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive eye exams including visual acuity, refraction, and anterior/posterior segment evaluations.
• Diagnose and manage ocular conditions such as dry eye, conjunctivitis, blepharitis, glaucoma, and diabetic eye disease.
• Co-manage pre- and post-operative care for cataract surgery, LASIK, and other procedures.
• Order diagnostic imaging and ocular testing (OCT, visual fields, fundus photography).
• Refer patients to ophthalmologists or specialists when NP scope is exceeded or surgery is needed.
• Provide integrative optometric care considering nutrition, sleep, and systemic health.
• Maintain accurate EHR documentation and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
