Job summary

Physicians Eyecare Group is seeking a compassionate Certified Nurse Practitioner to join our new eyecare center in Farmington, NM. You will provide comprehensive eye care including ocular assessments and integrative optometric services in a collaborative team environment.

The role requires an active NM NP license, DEA registration, MSN or DNP, and at least 2 years of NP experience in ophthalmology or integrative medicine. Strong communication and bilingual abilities are preferred.

Qualifications

• Active unrestricted NP license in New Mexico
• Current DEA registration or eligibility to obtain one in NM
• MSN or DNP from an accredited program
• Minimum 2 years NP clinical experience, ophthalmology/integrative medicine preferred
• Proficiency with EHR/EMR systems and clinical documentation
• Excellent interpersonal communication and patient education skills
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
• Familiarity with ophthalmic diagnostic equipment is a plus
• Experience in retail optical/ophthalmology setting is advantageous

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive eye exams including visual acuity and refraction
• Diagnose and manage common ocular conditions (dry eye, conjunctivitis, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease)
• Co-manage pre and post-operative care for cataract surgery, LASIK, and other procedures
• Order diagnostic imaging and ocular testing (OCT, visual fields)
• Refer to ophthalmologists when specialty care is needed
• Provide integrative optometric care addressing nutrition and systemic factors
• Develop care plans addressing eye health and overall well-being
• Maintain accurate EHR documentation and participate in quality initiatives
• Mentor clinical staff and stay current with evidence-based practices
• Adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, and state regulatory requirements
