Job summary

Illinois State University is seeking an Extra Help Bartender to staff events through the Event Management, Dining and Hospitality department. Responsibilities include promptly taking drink orders, setting up and tearing down bars for events, and maintaining stock and cleanliness while verifying IDs as needed.

Required BASSET certification and at least 12 months of bartending experience. Work hours vary by events with a maximum of 28 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Attend guest drink orders promptly and courteously.
  • Ensure bar setup and tear down for each event.
  • Maintain bar stock and cleanliness.
  • Verify customer identification when required.
  • Handle other duties as assigned.

Bartending duties including promptly attending to each guest's drink order upon arrival, ensuring adequate bar set up and tear down for each event, maintaining bar stock and cleanliness, verifying customer identification, and other duties as assigned.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$17.85 per hour

Required Qualifications

1. Current/valid BASSET (Alcohol) Certification
2. Minimum 12 months of bartending experience

Work Hours

Varies based on events. 28 hours per week maximum.

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Remain at a workstation for extended periods.
2. Move about in various locations across campus as needed to complete day-to-day work.
3. Effectively communicate on a daily basis.

Extra Help employees may only work up to 28 hours per week for all University employment and are paid for hours worked only. Extra Help employment does not guarantee permanent placement. Extra Help employees may only work up to 900 total hours.
