Job summary

Golden 1 Credit Union in California seeks a Home Loan Advisor - External to proactively solicit and originate residential mortgage loans. You will develop a strong referral network and manage the loan process from origination to close, ensuring compliance and exceptional member service.

The role requires 5+ years in mortgage functions, 2+ years self-sourced business, MLO registration, and strong financial analysis. This is a full-time on-site position in San Jose.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent work experience; four year college degree preferred.
• Experience: Minimum five years in a mortgage related function with at least two years of generating self-sourced business.
• Licenses: MLO Registration required; associated with SAFÉ Act responsibilities.
• Knowledge/Skills: Exceptional member service skills; strong credit and financial analysis; knowledge of mortgage industry and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Originate mortgage loans from self-sourced relationships and via referrals; discuss product options with borrowers.
• Assist members with product selection, lock requests, and required disclosures.
• Obtain and analyze financial data; assess applications upfront for underwriting concerns.
• Maintain knowledge of state/federal lending laws and compliance requirements; manage pipeline for timely processing.
• Oversee loan process from origination to close; provide ongoing communication to applicants.
