Job summary

onsemi is seeking a FE External Manufacturing Foundry Lead Engineer in San Jose, CA to drive advanced power device manufacturing initiatives. You will lead foundry-related activities, manage external partners, and push process development from concept through deployment.

Key responsibilities include optimizing SiC/GaN solutions, leading transfer and qualification programs, and coordinating with supply chain, legal, and procurement to ensure capacity, cost, and delivery targets.

Qualifications

• MS degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Chemistry Engineering, Material Science or related area.
• Minimum 10 years of experience working with semiconductor technology development, fab process integration, device engineering, product engineering, foundry engineering or foundry management in IDM, foundry, fabless companies.
• Hands on experience of SiC and/or GaN process, integration, device and characterization.
• Proactively manage and anticipate process performance, quality, change management to achieve Zero defect.
• Ability to lead, execute plans effectively and direct foundries to improve product quality, yield, cost, cycle time to achieve organizational goals.
• Knowledge of statics, yield improvement, power device process technology, device physics, and semiconductor development/manufacturing of SiC and/or GaN.
• Proficiency with data analysis, DOE, and statistical techniques is assumed. Data science experience is a plus.
• Solid experience in the semiconductor industry, preferably in Power Device related fields.
• Knowledge of semiconductor processing, solid-state device physics, and Epi/SiC/GaN of thin film deposition or plasma physics is desirable.
• Flexible in domestic or international travel (up to 25%)

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize SiC and GaN solutions for next-gen power devices from concept to manufacturing.
• Lead engineering efforts with internal teams and foundries for process evaluation and transfer.
• Manage day-to-day external foundry operations to meet delivery, capacity, cycle time, cost needs.
• Collaborate with internal fabs and foundries to benchmark performance and share learnings.
• Coordinate with procurement, supply chain and legal to develop a foundry management strategy and data reporting.
