The Extension Agent for Agriculture and Natural Resources ( ANR )will support small-scale and limited-resource farmers by providingexpert consultations, education, and hands-on training to enhanceproductivity and income. This role focuses on developing anddelivering research-based programs that address key agricultural,economic, and environmental challenges in the community.
The Extension Agent for ANR will provide hands-on, research-basedtraining and conduct farm demonstrations on best managementpractices, innovative technologies, and sustainable agriculturalmethods. Additionally, this role will collaborate with localorganizations to expand outreach efforts, assess program needs, andengage the community through advisory committees and directparticipant feedback.

The Cooperative Extension Program at North Carolina Agriculturaland Technical State University is an educational outreachorganization within the College of Agriculture and EnvironmentalSciences.
Cooperative Extension at A&T provides researched-basededucational information, programming and technical assistance tolimited-resource audiences that address a diverse range of issuesin four programmatic areas – Agriculture and Natural Resources,Family and Consumer Sciences, Community and Rural Development, and4-H Youth Development.
Together with its partners – North Carolina State UniversityCooperative Extension Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture,state and county governments, a dynamic and resourceful system isformed. In addition to campus operations, The Cooperative ExtensionProgram has professionally staffed offices in almost half of the100 counties in North Carolina and the Eastern Band of CherokeeIndians.
The Stokes County Cooperative Extension Center deliversresearch-based educational programs to citizens of Stokes County.In addition to partnering with the state’s two land grantuniversities, the center enjoys an excellent partnership with localgovernment, relevant industries and community-based associationsand organizations.
The center recognizes agriculture as a strong component of thelocal economy and supports the farmers’ need to diversifytheirfarming operations. County produce sustains three active farmersmarkets, a sweet potato alliance and a local food coalition.
Bachelor’s degree with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5overall or a 3.0 in the major field of study (based on a 4.0scale), or completion of a Master’s degree; a personal automobileand valid driver’s license; computer literacy; strong oral andwritten communication skills; the ability to plan, implement,market, and evaluate educational programs; willingness to work as ateam member and support a total Extension program; and the abilityto handle multiple demands and set priorities.
For all Agent positions, a Master’s degree is preferred.
