Job summary

The Potomac School in McLean, VA is seeking an Assistant Director of the Extended Day Program. This part-time role supports planning, supervision and daily operations from 2:00-6:00 pm, with full-day hours during opening weeks and professional development days.

Responsibilities include overseeing daily operations, maintaining records, and ensuring program compliance with VDOE and DSS guidelines, while fostering a warm, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years of related work in a day care or educational setting.
• Must be First Aid/CPR and MAT certified (Potomac will cover expenses)
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and work with children in all weather
• Must stay current with required professional development trainings and DSS compliance

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily Extended Day operations with the Director of Extended Day.
• Maintain accurate student records per DSS guidelines and program policies.
• Communicate with parents regarding student behavior concerns and document incidents.
• Lead enrichment activities aligned with The Potomac School’s strategic goals.
• Coordinate student schedules and transitions across programs with other divisions.
• Plan on-campus activities and field trips for child care days throughout the year.
